Then with the threat of mass layoffs in the Aerospace Industry, Larry and I decided that maybe we should start up a crafting business for back-up income. We would do a few craft shows a year while we both were still working. After a few years of doing this, we changed our craft line-up to recycled antiques. We both really like antiques and are always looking for bargains or additions to our home here in East Tennessee. But we wanted to work on a smaller scale than trying to transport and set up large pieces of furniture. So we settled on crafting with mason jars, glass and porcelain insulators, bobbins, quills and spools from the old textile mills. We "recycle" them into various lamps, candle holders and decorations. After a couple of years doing just a few shows a year, we expanded our area in Southern California and tripled our show to about 12-15 shows a years. We then decided we were going to retire in 2004 and take time to travel the country in our camper and find a new, more peaceful and slower pace of life. We traveled 6 1/2 months and a little over 18,000 miles and settled on Eastern Tennessee. We now live in Maryville, Tennessee just at the base of the Smoky Mountains where we are renovating our new home, making friends, and just enjoying life. We hope that you enjoy our site, gain some information and find what you would like to add to your own home. May all your days be filled with happiness and love. Karen and Larry Kernohan This picture of us is one of my absolute favorites. We had a "special date" for New Year's Eve in 1994 and got to dress up for the occasion - how fun is that?
